I upgraded both computers to same Mac OS version 10.15.7 and the Macbook Air works just fine. I'm currently use iMac 2012 and Macbook Air. Shortcut key doesn't work properly I upgrade to macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 and weird things happen. I must be overlooking something, any thoughts or advice are appreciated. *1 - On Mojave, there's no longer a "Services" type in Automator, so I tried using Workflow instead. ![]() I've tried this on my Mac Pro, which is much older (El Capitan), as well as my MacBook Pro which is running Mojave. I've also tried with different keyboards but same result. I've tried using other shortcut combinations incase it's just the F-keys that are giving me trouble, like shift-option-m for example (and I tried several others too), but still just the beep. I do run Karabiner, but I wouldn't expect that to prevent keyboard shortcuts from working, and when I run Karabiner Event Viewer and press F4, it shows that I am indeed pressing F4. When, from any application, I go to the Services menu and run "calculator", it works 's just the keyboard shortcut that's not working. When I try running the service in automator with the 'run' button, it opens the calculator, just like I expected. Then, go to system preferences, keyboard, shortcuts, find Services, then the automator service I just created, "calculator", turn it on, set the shortcut (F4 in my case, but I've tried several others with no luck). I've followed instructions for creating a keyboard shortcut to open an application, but it's not working, it just beeps when I press F4.Īll the instructions out there seem to be the same - using Automator, create a service (note *1 below), have it Launch Application (Calculator, in my case), then save it ("calculator"). My goal is to open Calculator.app with the F4 key. keys as standard function keys", then uncheck again, and it seems to resolve the issue. In Karabiner-Elements Preferences, under Function Keys, you need to check "Use all F1, F2 etc. Mouse will still work though.I don't see an option to delete this message, but I've resolved it: Your computers keyboard and your controller will both eventually spazz out if you don't do this, and you'll have to restart your computer to get them both to work. Your to key value should be what you want as your new value for that button.ĥ.) All unused buttons should have vk_none (disable this key) set for their to key valuesĦ.) Make sure you go to the devices tab and click caps lock led for your controller if you have a led light in your keyboard caps lock key. For example, if I wanted to modify button A on my controller, my from key value would be g. For the from key value, add the keyboard key the button on your control corresponds to by default. If they don't, take note of what they are.Ĥ.) On the Karabiner app, click on add item. The from key and to key columns should both be blank.ģa.) Each button on the control is preprogrammed with a keyboard key as follows: A:g-B:j-X:h-Y:i-ArrowLeft:e-ArrowRight:f-ArrowUp:c-ArrowDown:d-Select:n-Start:o-Left:k-Right:mģb.)I don't know if this is standard amongst all the devices so I'd open up note or word to confirm that your controllers buttons correspond with the keys above. Click target device and click on 8BitDo Zero 2 gamepad (unknown). If you had tried to connect using the directions under MacOS, the device would show up as DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller which won't be recognizable to the Karabiner app.ģ.) Open up your Karabiner-Elements app, which should have you on the simple modifications tab by default. Once you confirm the 5 blinks, press and hold select until the led light starts blinking non-stop.Ģ.) Go to your bluetooth settings and connect to 8BitDo Zero 2 gamepad. ![]() Press R and start which will trigger the blue led light at the base of the controller to blink 5 times. The process to get this set up is a bit tricky, so here are the steps you need to take from the beginning to get it all working.ġ.) When turning on the device and pairing with your MacOs, use the in box directions under keyboard mode to connect. Here’s a walk through on how to make karabiner work using an 8bitdo zero 2 ($20 on Amazon) controller that I posted previously.
